Mrs. Wagner
Grade level: 10-11
This course takes a look at the revolutionary ideas of Charles Darwin, and the controversies his work has stirred up over the past 150 years. We will look at what he actually wrote, and investigate some of the ways his work has been built upon and expanded after his death. We will conclude by looking at some of the many ways that Christians interact with the concepts of evolution and common descent, and write a paper reflecting on those ideas as they relate to faith.

Mrs. Hein
Grade level: 10-12
In this course we’ll be reading one of Shakespeare’s great tragedies, Macbeth. Unlike a comedy, which ends in celebration, a tragedy traces the fall of a great person through a fatal flaw. In this case, a brave Scottish hero is drawn toward power by prophecy and ambition, only to find that unchecked desire leads to guilt, fear, and ruin.
As we explore Shakespeare’s vivid language and memorable soliloquies, we’ll consider enduring questions about ambition, courage, temptation, and the consequences of our choices, discovering how themes from the 1600s remain strikingly relevant today.
